Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way (frequently referred to as Enoby) is the overly perfect protagonist of Tara's infamous fanfiction story, My Immortal. She is what Tara would call a "goff" with magical powers like the characters in the Harry Potter series. She is also a vampire with cutting problems and frequent thoughts of suicide. Due to Ebony's similarity to Tara, her almost complete lack of flaws, and the recurring issue of being called "Tara" in the story instead of her given name, most people believe she is a self-insert character, or a fanfiction character the author had designed with traits they wish they had and put them in the desired fictional world in order to do the things they wish they could do. This is a common problem amongst Mary Sues, though most examples are not so egregious.
Physical Appearance[]
Ebony is described as having long ebony black hair (cited as the reason for her name) with purple and red highlights. She also has "icy blue eyes like limpid tears", pale skin, and perfect straight white teeth despite being a vampire. Tara goes into great lengths describing her daily outfits from Hot Topic, which often consist of fishnet tights, thigh-high boots, corsets, and "ripped" shirts with the names of her favorite bands, and the makeup she wears, like black lipstick and pale foundation. She is often told she is pretty, and almost every male in the story (including the teachers) thinks she's beautiful and expresses desire to date her. As a result, the story contains many poorly described sex scenes and instances of male teachers "masticating" to videotapes of her they have taken through her window.
"Its so unfair!" I yielded. "Why cant I just be plain or ugly like all da other girls and preps here except for B'loody Mary, because she's not ugly or anything." (Chapter 14)
Note: "B'loody Mary" is Tara's goffikally altered version of Hermione, just one example of a character she has "goth-ified" to the point they're no longer recognizable.
Personality[]
Despite Ebony's beauty and tendencies to attract everyone around her, her actions paint her as quite the disagreeable type. When even mildly annoyed, she is quick to flip people off and throw profanities their way. Tara describes Ebony as one of the smartest students at Hogwarts in all advanced classes, though any reader can observe how little common sense and street smarts she has. Ebony has a love for "sensitive bi guys", constantly describing them as "hot", with two major examples of this archetype being Draco and Vampire. She has a profound obsession for many musicians in her favorite bands, and wishes she was related to Gerard Way because "he is a major fucking hottie". She hates "preps" and "posers", though many instances prove her to be both. Ebony is a textbook example of a Mary Sue, or a perfect character with extraordinary beauty and no flaws.
Relationships[]
Ebony is generally able to maintain relationships well with goths, however due to her deep hatred for preps and posers, this is a result of the fact that goths are the only people she wants to talk to.
Draco Malfoy[]
From the beginning of My Immortal, Draco was the primary love interest for Ebony. In contrast with his personality in Harry Potter's canon, he is highly sensitive and loving towards Ebony. They frequently "do it" with each other and "make out passively".
The two first interact in chapter 1, where Draco talks "shyly", and then in chapter two Draco asks her to go to a Good Charlotte concert with him. This seems to be enough time for them to decide to take their relationship further, as in chapter four they have sex. This rapid escalation is incredibly out of character for Draco, but Tara's justification for this can be best described using Draco's own dialogue: "BECAUSE I LOVE HER!"
